A grand jury has indicted a Johnston County woman on murder charges in connection with a fatal car crash two months ago.
On January 11th, troopers said a 2010 Dodge car, driven by Amanda Leigh-Ann Allen, 20, of Triston Court, Kenly was traveling eastbound on Highway 42 when she struck a 1981 Chevy pickup truck driven by 25 year-old Louis Brandon Howell of Whitley Road, Middlesex. Howell died at the scene. Allen and two passengers in her car sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.
On Monday, a grand jury in Smithfield returned a Bill of Indictment against Allen charging her with second-degree murder for Howell’s death.
Allen was still in the Johnston County Jail on Friday where she was being held under a $750,000 bond.
