The State Highway Patrol is investigating an early morning fatal wreck in southern Johnston County. The accident was reported at 4:01am today (Monday) in the 2900 block of Highway 242 South of Benson.
A passenger car was traveling on Highway 242 when it traveled off the roadway and overturned, partially ejecting the driver. The driver, the only occupant in the vehicle, died at the scene. The victim was not wearing a seat belt.
The name of the victim has not been released. The roadway was reopened to traffic around 6:00am.
