The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery reported this morning (Wednesday) in the parking lot of a Kenly business.
Around 12:50am, an employee at a manufacturing business on Johnston Parkway Road just off I-95 in Kenly was walking to their car. The 53 year-old victim said as he neared his vehicle, a suspect armed with a handgun approached and demanded he hand over his car keys. The victim handed over his keys then ran away. The victim was not injured during the robbery.
The suspect fled in the victim’s burgundy 2016 Toyota Camry with NC license plate DHE-9079. At last report, the stolen car had not been located.
Detectives said the suspect was a black male, 5 foot 8, weighing 175-200 pounds, wearing a bandana over his face. He was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.
The victim also told investigators he had a 9mm handgun in his vehicle at the time it was stolen.
