Smithfield Police said they seized 116 alprazolam pills from a vehicle during a traffic stop just before midnight Sunday on US 70 East near I-95. Currently,alprazolam, which also goes by the name Xanax, is believed to be the most prescribed and the most misused benzodiazepine in the United States retail market.
Officers also seized numerous other items found in the vehicle including a 380 pistol, ammunition, $198 in cash, collectible coins valued at $2,000, a gold chain, cell phone and computer tablet.
Jesse Lee Collins, 34, of E. Fremont Street, Kenly was charged with trafficking opiates, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance. Collins was transported to the Johnston County Jail where he bail was set at $200,000.
