GARLAND – An elderly man died Thursday in a mobile home fire. His small dog also perished in the blaze.
Around 9:20am, the Sampson County 911 Center received a call reporting the fire at 108 West Seventh Street in Garland. Fire crews arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames.
After extinguishing the fire, the body of 93 year-old Eugene Beasley was located inside. His small canine was also found deceased.
Fire departments from Garland, Taylor’s Bridge, Harrells, Clinton, Roseboro, Hickory Grove, Ammon, White Lake and Elizabethtown responded, in addition to units from Sampson County EMS.
The Sampson County Fire Marshal is assisting the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation into the cause of the fire. There is currently no indication foul play is involved.
