An East Smithfield home was damaged by fire this morning (Thursday).
At 10:14am, fire crews responded to a doublewide mobile home on fire at 825 Midway Street. Crews arrived to find a working fire in a bedroom.
Officials said the fire started on the bed. No one was at home at the time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Johnston County Fire Marshal, Smithfield Police and the Smithfield Fire Department . No injuries were reported.
The Smithfield, Selma, Four Oaks and Pine Level Fire Departments responded to the blaze.
The Red Cross responded to assist the displaced occupants.
