A total of seven fire departments responded to a doublewide mobile home fire Wednesday afternoon in the Selma city limits. The fire was reported at 106 Parrish Street off Ricks Road.
Johnston County Emergency Services Deputy Fire Marshal Ryan Parker said the fire originated in a small outbuilding behind the residence and then spread to the mobile home.
The fire was reported while numerous emergency crews were on the scene of a serious accident on I-95 in Selma. Fire departments from Selma, Smithfield, Micro, Pine Level, Wilson’s Mills, Kenly, Bethany and Four Oaks responded to the scene. All the agencies worked together to contain the blaze.
Selma Police and Johnston County EMS also responded.
No injuries were reported. The Red Cross is assisting 3 adults and two children who were displaced by the blaze.
Parker said the cause of the fire still remains under investigation.
