The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a vacant home near Princeton.
Flames were reported at the former farmhouse on Edgerton Lane off Hickory Crossroads Road in eastern Johnston County around 9:00pm Friday. A nearby resident said they saw the home engulfed in “a ball of fire.”
Fire departments from Johnston and Wayne counties battled the fire. The home, which had been vacant a number of years, was a total loss.
