Fire On Decommissioned Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey Circus Train Cars

NASH COUNTY – Several decommissioned Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus train cars located near S. Old Franklin Road and less than a mile from the town limits of Spring Hope burned.

Several volunteer fire departments, NCDOT, and Nash County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the scene Thursday morning. It hasn’t been determined if the fire is intentional or accidental.

The train cars are currently inaccessible based on their location in the woods. A train locomotive is being sent to move the affected train cars to ensure any remaining fires are extinguished.

The nine train cars were once owned by the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and are now owned by N.C. Department of Transportation.

  1. Our present Johnston County School Board should buy some of these circus trains that has survived and relocate them at 2320 HWY 70 E Business, Smithfield next to the school board office. Why should the parents and tax payers of Johnston County have a three ring circus for a school board and not have the circus train parked out front of their office. Just use some of that missing $8,000,000.00 that has never been investigated or explained from a couple of years ago?
