Flooding Reported On Area Roadways
SMITHFIELD – Heavy rain and possible thunderstorms could create additional flooding on Friday as we feel the impacts from Hurricane Helene.
Even before the rain associated with Hurricane Helene arrives, some local roadways have already closed due to flooding from rainfall earlier this week.
Sections of Smith Road and Crantock Road, off NC Highway 210, west of Smithfield closed Thursday morning.
The NCDOT placed Road Closed signs along the roadways, however several vehicles were spotted driving through the floodwaters.
