GOLDSBORO — On Monday night, the Goldsboro City Council voted in favor of a mutual separation agreement with City Manager Tim Salmon, effective immediately. Salmon had been serving as the city manager since May 1, 2019.
Mayor Charles Gaylor expressed his gratitude for Salmon’s efforts to drive the City of Goldsboro forward during his tenure as city manager.
“Tim led this city through turbulent times beginning the moment he assumed the role. He was willing to make difficult, sometimes unpopular, but necessary decisions and push his people to be better than they were,” Gaylor said. “Goldsboro is better off for his time here.”
Assistant City Manager Matthew Livingston, who has been with the City since June 2022, will serve as interim city manager. Livingston has 25 years of local government experience, and has previously served as manager in Ayden, Wallace and Rolesville.
An extensive search for a new city manager will begin soon.
