Groundbreaking For Johnston County Regional Park Canceled Due To Forecasted Inclement Weather

JOHNSTON COUNTY – Johnston County Parks and Open Space has made the decision to cancel the groundbreaking ceremony at Johnston County Regional Park scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025 due to the forecasted inclement weather.

While the County was looking forward to welcoming the public and elected officials to the groundbreaking, expected weather conditions will prevent the event from proceeding safely. Due to the challenges of scheduling public events during the holiday season, the groundbreaking will not be rescheduled.

Johnston County Parks and Open Space appreciates the community’s enthusiasm and support for this project and looks forward to celebrating the completion of Johnston County’s first Regional Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in late summer 2026.
