Highway Patrol: Driver Ejected In Johnston County Collision

KENLY, N.C. — Two drivers were hospitalized Thursday morning following a three-vehicle collision near Kenly that resulted in one driver being ejected from his vehicle, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 7:06 a.m. at the intersection of Hinnant-Edgerton Road and Little Road.
Troopers said Jerry Wayne Fromer Jr., 62, of Kenly was driving a Honda Accord northeast on Hinnant-Edgerton Road when he attempted to make a left turn and failed to yield the right of way.

Investigators said Fromer’s vehicle collided with a black Cadillac Escalade driven by Reyes Salvador Mendoza Valadez, 45, of Princeton, who was traveling west on Hinnant-Edgerton Road.
Following the impact, the Escalade traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned, ejecting Valadez from the vehicle
A third vehicle, a GMC pickup truck that was stopped in the roadway, was struck by debris from the collision.

Both Fromer and Valadez were transported to WakeMed in Raleigh with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Fromer was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
According to troopers, neither speed nor alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
Editor’s Note: Two of the three vehicles involved in the crash had already been removed from the scene by the time photographs were taken.
