SELMA – Three fire departments were called to the scene of a smokey residential house fire in the 5000 block of Buffalo Road, early Sunday morning. The first call came in at around 5:40am and Selma, Northside and Wilson’s Mills Fire Departments responded.

Four adult residents of the home all escaped the blaze. The older, wood-framed house presented firefighters with challenges due to the additions which had been added to the home over the years.

Fire departments and EMS were on the scene in the below-freezing temperatures for more than four hours.

Buffalo Road was shut down and traffic diverted by Johnston County sheriff’s deputies to allow a large fire hose to be run from a hydrant to the home.

There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
