An 18-wheeler hauling empty plastic bottles had stopped for traffic ahead when it was rear-ended by another southbound semi hauling lumber.

The collision ripped open the cab of the semi, ejecting the driver. The driver was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the stopped 18-wheeler was not injured.

It took crews several hours to clean up the debris. One southbound lane was initially reopened before both lanes reopened Tuesday night.

  1. My God what is going on with the 18 wheelers on I95? This is happening way more frequently.
It’s bad enough as it is but can you only imagine had that semi smashed that hard into a stopped car???? Total destruction!!!!! It’s just sad.

    • Drivers not paying attention is probably the key, probably cell phone usage. I’ve seen more and more drivers looking at their phone the more I pay attention to it, been run off the road a couple of times because of that too.

      • Yes. I think this is now causing more serious accidents than DUI does. Stiff penalties and enforcement are needed, but there is no will.

  2. And they want to lower the cdl a age to 16 what are they thinking I’ve been driving 29 years thank God with no wrecks everyone who drives a truck needs to put down the phone and pay attention when in doubt increase your following distance my thoughts and prayers go out to all the trucking family who have lost loved ones in wrecks
