A Smithfield couple welcomed the first baby born in Johnston County in 2018.
John and Michelle Gonzalez are the proud parents of Galilea Isabelle Gonzalez who was welcomed into the world at 7:57am on New Year’s Day.
Galilea weighed 6 pounds and 2 ounces.
“It was great,” John, the proud father said while speaking to JoCoReport.com from the hospital. “I feel like right now we are the center of attention because she is the first one. We thank God she is healthy.”
John said he brought his wife to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield around 1:30am Monday. John said he told Michelle if they had the first baby born in Johnston County in the New Year they would call JoCoReport.com. We’re glad they did.
Galilea is the couple’s third daughter. She has two older sisters, ages 2 and 4.
Dr. Jodi Bailey from Triangle Premier Women’s Health performed the delivery.
