A driver is facing numerous charges following a brief chase on New Year’s Eve. It started around 2:00am Saturday with officers attempted to stop a car for speeding on Cleveland Road. Deputies said the vehicle failed to pull over. The driver reportedly accelerated to speeds of up to 75mph in a 45mph zone before turning onto Watkins Road and stopping.
Tyler Michael Hamlett, 22, of Crestdale Drive, Clayton was charged with fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, driving while impaired and speeding. He was placed in the Johnston County Jail under a $25,000 bond.
