Johnston County Public Utilities Issues Temporary Water Shortage Advisory

SMITHFIELD – Due to extreme cold weather causing treatment process interruptions at the Timothy G. Broome Water Treatment Plant, Johnston County has declared a temporary water shortage advisory.

Johnston County Public Utilities is asking all customers to immediately refrain from all non-essential uses.

In addition, customers should check for plumbing leaks on frozen pipes and plumbing as they thaw. The County expects the water shortage advisory to last no longer than 24-48 hours.

Officials are working to correct the problem and restore normal operations.
