Johnston County Surveyor Appointed To State Board

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. – A Johnston County surveyor has been appointed to the North Carolina Underground Damage Prevention Review Board.

Gov. Josh Stein announced the appointment of Edward Sullivan Gibbs of Johnston County.

Gibbs is a licensed North Carolina surveyor with 23 years of experience, including work for the N.C. Department of Transportation, Duke Energy, municipalities and private clients.

He has served as secretary of the Johnston County Chapter of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors since 2013 and previously served on Wake Technical Community College’s advisory board for surveying technology and civil engineering programs.

The Underground Damage Prevention Review Board reviews reports of alleged violations of North Carolina’s underground utility damage-prevention law. The board meets at least quarterly and can determine whether violations occurred and recommend penalties.

The state board has 15 positions appointed by the governor, with members serving four-year terms.
