Johnston County leads the state in the number of methamphetamine labs located in 2015.
During the first six months of this year, 23 meth labs were found in the county, according to a report from the NC State Bureau of Investigation. Richmond County ranked second with 20, followed by Gaston with 18, 13 in Harnett, and 10 in Wake County.
Sampson County authorities have located 6 meth labs this year and 6 in Wayne County. Nash County reported 1 meth lab. Wilson County had no reported meth labs in the first half of this year.
Meth labs have been found in about two-thirds of all counties in the state this year.
Johnston County had 46 meth labs in 2014.
