Man Accused Of Stealing Pickup, Selling It To Salvage Yard
WILLOW SPRING, N.C. – A western Johnston County man is facing two felony charges after authorities said he stole a pickup truck and sold it to a Wake County salvage yard for scrap.
Corey Michael Schneider, 46, of Landmark Road, Willow Spring, was arrested Sept. 5 by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
The case began Aug. 29 when a 78-year-old man reported his 1982 Chevrolet pickup had been stolen from his home on Landmark Road.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim identified Schneider as a suspect.
Investigators later traced the stolen truck to a salvage yard in Wake County, where authorities said it had already been crushed.
Deputies allege Schneider sold the truck for $200.
Schneider was charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle and obtaining property by false pretense.

Why is the salvage yard not charged also
If law enforcement will start charging these salvage companies with receiving stolen goods a lot of these thefts would stop.
This was an antique 1982 truck. Anyone would know it is worth more than $200.
Registered salvage companies report to the state of NC on a vehicle before they purchase it. The system reports to the dealer if it is stolen or not. This system has recovered thousands of stolen vehicles with the cooperation of these legitimate salvage yards.
People should have to have a title for the vehicle stating it is there property before a salvage company is allowed to take it.
They need titles for all vehicles no matter what year they are

I thought they had to have a title registered in their name to be able to sell to the junk yard. I thought this law passed like 5-10 years ago. I’m not sure but I remember talking about it at the car lot I worked at and maybe they were trying to pass the law.
Start charging the salvage companies and this right here would not keep happening..so who pays the man for his stolen truck..? I absolutely Hate a thief! Get a job or two jobs pay your own way.. probably used the money for drugs or maybe so false teeth.
