Man Claims He Was Assaulted And Robbed

CLAYTON – Investigators are looking into a reported robbery and assault at a Clayton-area home. The incident was reported Wednesday, September 20th around 11:30pm.

The victim, a 38 year-old Pitt County man, said he was at a home on Tobacco Lane when he got into a verbal argument with a male. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly struck the victim with a machete, then stole a bag before fleeing.

The bag reportedly contained a watch, necklace, earrings, wallet and body spray. The items were valued at $685.

Authorities said the victim waited about 30 minutes to report the incident. He received minor injuries.
