Man Takes Cigarettes In Convenience Store Robbery

JOHNSTON COUNTY. — The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery at a Speedway gas station Monday afternoon.

Deputies said the robbery occurred around 3:15 p.m. at the Speedway located at 5170 Veterans Parkway, near I-40. According to investigators, a black male entered the store and told the clerk he had a firearm in his pocket.

The suspect then went behind the counter and took two cartons of cigarettes before leaving the store on foot. No injuries were reported.
