Marijuana, Large Sum Of Cash Seized During Traffic Stop, JCSO Says

CLEVELAND –  A half-pound of suspected marijuana and a large undisclosed amount of cash was seized during a traffic stop.  On Nov. 2 around 8:33pm, a Johnston County patrol deputy reportedly witnesses a silver Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed, and passing cars in a no passing zone, on Cleveland Road near NC Highway 42.

The vehicle turned into a nearby Walgreens parking lot, and the driver walked inside the business, before the deputy could confront the driver.

The driver, identified as Travion Darrell Ray, age 28, of Park Place Drive, Garner was detained inside the store. Deputies said they found a large amount of cash in a handbag in the front seat, approximately one-half pound of suspected marijuana in a vacuum-sealed bag, and several other empty vacuum-sealed bags that appeared to have previously contained marijuana.

Ray was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, reckless driving, and unsafe passing.  He was released on a $5,000 bond.

  1. Thank you JCSO for taking trash like this off the streets. It’s a shame that a judge puts the trash back on the streets with only a $5,000 bond.

  2. Large sum of cash is crazy. Let’s start there, large sum of cash? I heard it wasn’t a large sum at all, do I gotta go there?
