Missing Clayton Teen Found Nearly 400 Miles From Home

CLAYTON — A Clayton teenager who disappeared last month after his vehicle was found wrecked in Greensboro has been located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Robert Allen Book III, 17, was found after Clayton Police received information following a media bulletin seeking help locating him.

Police said the tip led investigators to a men’s shelter in Pittsburgh, where Pittsburgh Police located Robert and took him into custody.

Robert had been reported missing Sept. 13. Investigators said he was last seen on surveillance video at a Clayton gas station around 1:30 a.m. Sept. 12.

About two hours later, a black 2010 Kia Soul he was driving was involved in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 421 in Greensboro. The vehicle was unoccupied when first responders arrived.

Police said Robert was being held until his family could make arrangements to pick him up.
