MEADOW – A fire destroyed a mobile home in southern Johnston County. The blaze was reported just after 11:00am Wednesday at 112 Bruce’s Lane, Dunn, off NC Highway 96 South near the Sampson County line.
Crews arrived to find a singlewide mobile home engulfed in flames. There were no nearby hydrants, and water had to be shuttled to the scene with fire department tankers.
Johnston County Fire Marshal Ryan Parker said the home was in the process of being remodeled. It was not occupied at the time of the blaze.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office with the investigation, which was determined to be arson.
The Meadow, Newton Grove, Plain View, and Dunn Fire Departments responded, along with Johnston County EMS.
No injuries were reported.
