Moore Files For Reelection As Smithfield Mayor

SMITHFIELD – Incumbent Mayor Andy Moore filed Friday afternoon for reelection. Mayor Moore was joined by his family at the Johnston County Board of Elections Office in Smithfield.

Mayor Moore will have opposition for the seat. District 1 Town Councilman Marlon Lee filed earlier in the day for the mayoral seat.

Three At-large council seats are up for election this year. The seats are currently held by John Dunn, Steve Rabil, and Roger Wood.

The mayor is elected to two year terms and council members are elected to four year terms.

The filing period will remain open through 12 Noon Friday, July 21, 2023. The cost to file for mayor or town council in Smithfield is $20.

  1. It’s time for a change everyone ! Some just want these seats for the title But you never see them in the Smithfield communities doin any community service you will only see these people when their on camera trying to look good. I want to see the mayor goin around and interacting with everyone and not just certain communities. Show me a picture of this guy in the black community. Where did he have the July 4th parade go ? In south Smithfield in the part we called the rich folk section growing up . Have you seen Selma’s mayor and how he is out cleaning his community and interacting with everyone ? It’s time for a change around Smithfield!!!! Marlin Lee is the man to vote for and in 1000% with him

    • Moore is done as mayor bud Go hold some signs for him mate be your one of his country club golfing neighbors. Where yall streets stay paved and trees stay trimmed and where the police don’t harass the youth and law biding citizens
