Motorcycle Seized After Two-County Pursuit

BENSON – A traffic stop quickly escalated into a two-county pursuit Saturday, ending with the arrest of a Cumberland County man and the seizure of his motorcycle.
Benson Police say the incident began around 7:43 p.m. on Nov. 15, when an officer attempted to pull over a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle on W. Main Street near S. Wall Street. The bike had no registration displayed, prompting the attempted stop.
Rather than pull over, the rider accelerated south on S. Wall Street (U.S. 301), crossing into Harnett County before turning onto Hodges Chapel Road, where the chase finally came to an end.
The operator, identified as 26-year-old Chase Alexander Oliver of Fayetteville, was taken into custody without further incident. Officers reported speeds around 100 mph during the pursuit, along with multiple traffic violations.
Oliver faces an extensive list of charges, including felony fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving to endanger, failure to heed light or siren, driving while license revoked, displaying no registration plate, no liability insurance, no motorcycle endorsement, speeding, and failing to stop at both a stop sign and a red light.
He was booked into the Johnston County Detention Center and later released on a $12,500 secured bond. Benson Police also seized the Suzuki motorcycle under North Carolina’s Run and Done law.
