Update 8:50am Monday – The NC Highway Patrol has identified the victim who was killed as Dennis Lee Jones of Wilson.
KENLY – A motorcyclist was killed following an accident Sunday morning in Johnston County.
The crash was reported around 10:45am on US 301 at Bagley Road between Micro and Kenly.
Initial reports indicate an SUV was traveling northbound on US 301 when it was struck in the side by the operator of a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle that may have failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection.
A witness reported they thought the motorcycle may have been exceeding the posted speed limit and did not attempt to stop before crossing through the intersection.
As a result of the impact, the motorcycle operator was ejected from his bike onto the roadway and died at the scene.
The occupants in the SUV were transported to Johnston Medical Center.
