Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Annie Jean Holmes Reaves, age 85, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM, Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson, NC. Revs. Don Sauls and Glenn McCullen will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC.
Mrs. Reaves was born on September 21, 1936 in Johnston County, NC to the late Herman Edward and Mildred Inez Bazemore Holmes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Marvin Reaves, sisters, Lois Hardison and Marie Holmes. Mrs. Reaves was a retired bookkeeper with Nowell Distributing. She was also a farmer, a teacher’s assistant and a homemaker. For many years she was also known as Mama Jean by all the children she kept in her home. She was a member of Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson, NC and Hannah’s Creek Sunday School. Mrs. Reaves was a Christian Lady, loved her flowers and watching her birds.
Surviving include her sons, Phillip Reaves and wife, Carolyn, and Steven Reaves and wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Margina Harris and husband, Travis, Anna Thornton and husband, Joseph, and Thomas Reaves; great-grandchildren, Gunner Harris and Tucker Harris; sisters, Jeanette Jones and Theresa Harris; brother-in-law, Billy Reaves and wife, Shirlena; sister-in-law, Jean Blackmon; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC and other times at the home.
