Annie Mae Rollins Batten, 93, of Selma, NC passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. She was born on June 7, 1930 to the late Herman Rose Rollins and Norma Cox Rollins. Annie Mae had six siblings who predeceased her: Robert, Vena, Doris, Jean, Bruce and Carol.
She married P. Wilbert Batten on December 25, 1946. They enjoyed forty-nine years together until his death on January 27, 1995. To this union were born five children: Becky Wise, who predeceased her (Neil); Connie Mulhollem (Mike) of Archer Lodge, NC; Sue Boyette (Ray) also of Archer Lodge, NC; Candy Arnold (Tim) of Nellysford, VA; and Neal Batten (Kathryn) of Wendell, NC.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Matt Mulhollem (Brooke), Anna Mulhollem, John Wise, Jake Wise, and Caroline Shafer (Rich) and four great grandchildren: Rowan Mulhollem, Eli Mulhollem, Rollins Wise and Quinn Shafer.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to the wonderful care she received at Autumn Home Care of Selma, NC, Johnston UNC Health Care (3rd Floor) of Smithfield, NC and SECU Hospice House of Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC.
Near the end of her journey, she made her wishes known to her family including the song she wanted sung, “It Is Well With My Soul.” She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 in Selma Memorial Gardens.
