    Smithfield – Benjamin Jacob Lancaster, age 4, passed away on September 14, 2022, in UNC Chapel Hill following a one-year battle with cancer. Born, January 5, 2018, in Johnston County, he was the son of Natalie Lancaster. He is preceded in death by great-grandparents, Earl Johnson and Bill Rose Lancaster.

    B.J. loved singing, dancing, running, praying for people, and smiling with his precious dimples. He loved his favorite superhero, Spiderman and he loved going to the beach just to play in the sand. He was honored and loved by many. He loved to hold his mommy’s hand and be rocked by his grandmother. He touched many lives and will always be cherished.

    Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the burial to follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

    He leaves behind his loving mother, Natalie Lancaster; brothers, Abriel Lancaster and Devario Lancaster; grandparents, Lori Reese, Billy Lancaster (wife Debbie), and papa Spears; great-grandparents, Bobbie Lancaster, Brenda Johnson, and Erma Gene Sorrell; aunts, Cathy Jackson, Tammy Lancaster, Amber Hill and Madeline Reese; uncles, Brian Lancaster, Stephen Reese and Kenneth Chapman, god-mother Regina Chance and a host of cousins, family members and friends.

    The family would like to offer special thanks to the UNC Health care team at Chapel Hill as well as the Make a Wish Foundation and the Cancer Partners for Children for all their wonderful care during B.J.s battle with cancer.
