Delma V. McLamb

Delma V. McLamb, 90, of Smithfield, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, April 2, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born March 11, 1936 to the late James Wilbert McLamb and Lula Ingram McLamb. He was married to Frances Hartley McLamb. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by brothers; James, C.L., Joseph, Buck and sisters; Alma Cobb and Velma Wadsworth.
Mr. McLamb was a proud United States Army Veteran. He served over 4 years and reached the rank of SP5 (E5) T. He was a member of the American Legion Post 405 and he retired from Natvar. In his retirement years, Mr. McLamb along with his wife Frances, helped Craig and Martha Casey at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton serve
the funeral home families
Mr. McLamb was a Charter Member of the Brogden Volunteer Fire Department. He actively served his community from 1955 – 1991 and he continued to help the fire department through the years, especially with their annual barbeque feed. Mr. McLamb was a member of Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church for over 60 years, where he served as a Deacon and a Youth Leader. He enjoyed fishing, working in the garden, and tending to his grape vines. Swinging in his hammock and feeding the hummingbirds were among his favorite past times.
First and foremost, Delma loved Jesus Christ and serving the Lord, with his love for his family was very close behind. He and Frances were married for 68 years and provided a Christian home setting and example for their children and grandchildren. He always looked forward to spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife; Frances Hartley McLamb, daughters; Renee M. Overbee (Dennis) of Smithfield, Leigh Ann Norris (Jeff) of Smithfield, brother; Elmer McLamb of Smithfield, sister; Thelma Hess of Pennsylvania, grandchildren; Patrick Overbee and fiancée (Morgan Cook), Peyton Dawson (Jacob), Sydney Norris and fiancé (Zack Ramirez), and great granddaughter; baby Dawson on the way.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 PM Monday, April 6 th at Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday April 6 th at Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with the Associate Pastor Joey Williams and the Pastor Dennis Pollock officiating. The Committal Service with The Fireman’s Last Call and Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.
Although flowers are welcomed, the family also suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Brogden Volunteer Fire Department at 25 Brogden School Road, Smithfield, North Carolina 27577.
