Dorothy Rae Harris Robertson, age 92, went to be with her Lord peacefully, on June 30, 2025, at the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield, NC. Born, November 14, 1932, in Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Mack and Alma White Harris. She is preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Bill Morgan and Ron Vargas; and two sisters in-law, Daisy Harris and Marie Harris.

The loves of her life were her three sons, Ronnie, Jerry, and Kevin. Being a single mother was hard for Dorothy, but she always put her kids needs before hers. Dot had a free spirit and loved to travel. She especially enjoyed going to Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. She had been there over six times, and each time was like her first time ever being there. She was truly a devoted Elvis fan.

Her warm smile and friendly spirit could light up a room, and her ability to connect with people made her cherished by all who knew her. For many years, residents of Scotland Neck could see Dot riding her Cadillac “Bicycle” around Scotland Neck. She was a faithful and dedicated employee of Halifax Hosiery Mill for many years until her retirement. Dot’s favorite color was purple. The family is asking everyone attending the service to wear a shade of purple in memory of Dot.

Dot is survived by her sons: Ronnie, Jerry, and Kevin Robertson; sisters, Gladys Morgan and Ruby Vargas; brothers, Jack Harris, Kenneth Harris (Mingy) and Robert Harris (Wanda); four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by several nephews, nieces, several great nephews and nieces; one son by choice, JP Lynch; and her beloved fur baby “Grandma’s beautiful girl” Fluffy.

Graveside services will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery, Scotland Neck, NC, on Sunday July 13, 2025, at 3:00 PM with Bishop JP Lynch officiating. Family will receive friends after the service. The family would like to thank the staff of the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield, NC, as well as Lynn Carter for the heartful compassionate care they gave to Dorothy.
