    Ecliff De Silva, age 83, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at his home at 18 Bryan Godwin Court, Erwin NC surrounded by family.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Ann Ramdeen De Silva. A resilient soul, he was the owner-operator of Lil Dino Subs at Hwy 40 & 42 in Johnston County for over 25 years. Born in St. James, Trinidad W.I., to the late Victor De Silva and Rosanna George, Trinidad held a special place in Ecliff’s heart, and he relished returning for Carnival, celebrating life and culture and reconnecting with childhood friends. He was also preceded in death by his sister Ann Sinclair and brother Victor De Silva. He is survived by sisters Erica Humphrey Franklin (Al Franklin) and Allison Humphrey Reyes.

    Ecliff’s legacy lives on through his children: Lisa De Silva Johnson (David), Nick De Silva, and Matt De Silva (Pam). He leaves behind a cherished lineage of four grandchildren: Jacob De Silva (Makayla), Christopher Laney (Ellen), David Gerald Johnson, Alyssa De Silva— three great-grandchildren, (Knox, Addy & Weston) and various nieces and nephews.

    In commemorating Ecliff’s life, we cherish the memories of his dedication to family, his enduring spirit, the joy he found in celebrating the vibrant traditions of his homeland, and the annual father’s day weekend party at his home. The love he shared with family and friends will be remembered fondly, his legacy resonating through the memories of those who knew him.

    The De Silva family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the West and Dunn funeral home in Erwin. Other times the family will gather at the home of Lisa and David Johnson. A graveside service will be on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10:00am at the Erwin Memorial Park cemetery. The funeral procession will leave the Erwin West and Dunn funeral home at 9:30am.
