Giovanni Hernan Amaya

    Birth Date: 12/19/1973
    Deceased Date: 08/13/2023

Giovanni Hernan Amaya was born on December 19th, 1973 in Medellin, Colombia and departed this life on August 13th, 2023 in Durham, North Carolina. Giovanni was the first of two children of Maria Rosario. Giovanni left behind his beloved mother Maria Rosario, sister Milena Rosario, 2 nephews Xavier and Joshua Hercules aka “Buddies”, brother in law Exabier Hercules aka “Tony” and step father Luis Rosario aka “Dad”. Also, Giovanni left behind many family in Colombia and New York. As well Giovanni left many caring and loving friends.

Giovanni lived in Colombia for 6 years then came to New Jersey in 1980 where Giovanni was able to have his 1st open heart surgery. During the course of Giovanni’s life he had 4 other open heart surgeries. Sadly, in May 2023 Giovanni suffered a cardiac arrest at home and was hospitalized at Duke University Hospital for 3 months where Giovanni departed with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

While growing up Giovanni came to have a strong passion for WWE Wrestling. Giovanni enjoyed collecting wrestling belts. On Giovanni’s spare time he watched movies, played video games, and listened to music.

Even though Giovanni had a development delay he would remember Birthdays way in advance. Family and friends remembers Giovanni as a sweet, kind, unique and polite person with always a smile on his face. As well, family knows Giovanni was a fighter with all that he has been through medically and a walking miracle of God.

Giovanni provided an “EXCELLENT” example as a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend in this life. He always showed respect, caring, and love to family and friends. Giovanni was a highly “POSITIVE” man facing the medical struggles of his life.
