Helen McGarry Medlin has passed away at age 85. Helen (Nina) passed on May 21, 2024 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard, and Berniece McGarry; brothers, Johnny, and Jimmy McGarry.

The family will receive visitors at Parrish funeral home from 5 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday May 29, 2024.

Helen is survived by her three children, a daughter, Catherine Fuller of Atlanta, GA; sons, Michael Cranny of Selma, NC, Martin Cranny of Princeton, NC; brothers, Richard McGarry of Milan, IL, Paul McGarry of Milan, IL, Stephen McGarry of Dewitt, IA; sisters, Kay Lincoln of Dewitt, IA, Judy Fletcher of Dewitt, IA, Paulette Frank of Mount Lake Terrace, WA, Leona LePert of Donahue, IA; grandchildren, Jessica Fuller, Vincent Fuller, Eric Fuller, Brook Wilson, Randi Marrie Cranny, Karalee Cranny, Katelyn Cranny; 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Nina was born in Dewitt, IA on September 14, 1938. She grew up on the family farm, with a large and loving Irish family. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where she attended for many years. She loved to laugh and have a beer. She was generous and compassionate, loved animals and spending time with family. She will be missed by many.
