Henry “Joe” Joseph Price

    Selma – Henry Joseph “Joe” Price, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in Wake Medical Center of Raleigh. Born, June 4, 1945, in Johnston County, he was a son of the late Henry Blake Price and Frances H. Price. Joe is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Barbara Parker Williams.

    He graduated from Selma High School class of 1963 and then went on to attend East Carolina University in Greenville. Joe attended church at Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the Selma Fire Department for 48 years, beginning in 1964. In 1976, he became chief and led the department for 31 years, inspiring many men to serve. Joe was one of the first level 3 state fire inspectors. He also worked with the town of Selma for many years, including serving as head of the water and sewer department.

    Joe was an inspiration to many. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching western movies. In the last few years, he enjoyed spending time with his family down at Brice’s Creek in New Bern. Joe loved his family, his beloved wife, his children and especially his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by many.

    Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the burial to follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home. Selma Fire Department will serve as Honor Guard.

    He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mrs. Gigi Price, son, Joey Price of Four Oaks, daughter, Suzanne McCaffity (Aaron) of Oriental, brother, Blake Price Jr. of Kenly, brother-in-law, Murray Parker (Lesley), sister-in-law, Diane Bowley, grandchildren, Blake McCain and Nelson Price, as well as many nieces and nephews.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Selma Firefighters Association at 201 North Webb St. Selma, NC, 27576.

    1. I am very sorry for your loss I used to take care of his father Mr Blake Mr Joe was a good man He will be missed!!!
