Smithfield – Henry Sylvester Newsome, age 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in his home of Smithfield, surrounded by his loving family. Born, November 9, 1944, in Wayne County, he was a son of the late Raymond Delwood Newsome and Ida Potter Newsome. He has now joined his parents and his brother, Rusty Newsome, in the Heavenly realms of Glory. Henry loved his Lord Jesus Christ, always serving Him and others, always kind and caring.
He was a carpenter all his life, always working on projects and building things at home or for others. Henry also enjoyed working in his yard and flower beds, as well as listening to gospel music. In his younger years he enjoyed dancing with his wife Joy, whom he loved dearly. Henry loved all his family, he was very close with his siblings and loved spending time with them as well as his girls, grandkids and great-grandkids. He will be greatly missed by all his loved ones and friends.
He leaves behind to his cherish his memory, his loving wife, Joy Mangum Newsome, daughters; Lisa Schimming of GA, Cathy Ring of TX, Debbie Harp Packard of OK, brother, Gary Thomas Newsome of Kenly, sister, Betty Newsome Riggins of Smithfield, grandchildren; Coley Harp, Carley Wiseman, Markie Hayes, Blake Mills (Kirbi), great-grandchildren, Demi Harp, Maddon Harp, Channing Mills, as well as many nieces and nephews.
