    Jennifer Edwards Peele, age 62, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at her home. Born May 20, 1961, in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Luby and Irene Lewis Edwards. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles “Rusty” Peele, Jr., and her sisters Trudy Edwards Bridgers and Loretta Gail Edwards. She is also preceded in death by William Fletcher and Nonia Bailey Lewis who were influential in raising her.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2024, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Stevens officiating. A private burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home just before the service.

    Surviving are her treasured sons, Charles “Charlie” Creech Peele, III and Valton “Vennie” Fletcher Peele; her precious grandson, Wayde Peele; her nephew, Todd Mozingo; and her beloved dachshund, “Chloe.”

    Jennifer worked at North Johnston Middle School for many years in various roles including teacher assistant and bus driver. She retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections after several years of serving as an administrative assistant. Since retirement, she had a desire to continue working with the public and serving the community so she returned to work at North Johnston Middle School, mostly recently supporting students in the ISS classroom where she developed relationships and mentored students to ensure their success. She was known for helping in any way and volunteering to do extra duties without being asked. She always had a kind word and a smile to share with others. She and her family loved and supported North Johnston Middle School for many years.

    In her spare time, Jennifer enjoyed playing pool in various leagues, even earning the chance to advance to tournaments in Las Vegas. She loved traveling, spending time with friends, and baking the best sweet treats and gourmet meals. She enjoyed gardening and was known for growing fresh vegetables to share with others. She had a passion for decorating her home to welcome friends and family to celebrate holidays throughout the year. Her loving spirit brought happiness and hope to all who were blessed to know her.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to North Johnston Middle School, P.O Box 69, Micro, NC 27555. Please note “In memory of Jennifer Peele” in the memo line of checks.
