Jimmy Rogers Hinton

Jimmy R. Hinton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2025. He was born January 10, 1936, at 1050 Old Hinton Rd, Princeton. He loved God, his family, neighbors, friends, and the church. He was a faithful servant to The Princeton United Methodist Church for many years, and after Covid, began attending The Princeton Church for the remainder of his life.

Jimmy was proud to have served in the US Air Force for four years and was a member of the Pine Level American Legion Post 405. After serving his country, he returned home to the family farm and continued his lifelong dream of being a farmer. He enjoyed horse sales, farm sales, and auction sales, and he worked at Wayne Implement for years. He also retired from Cherry Hospital as a Water Plant Technician. He had a special love for all kinds of animals, always having ponies, mules, jacks, bulldogs, and a special pig, Penelope, that stayed close by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Woodall Hinton; daughters, Vivian Hall (husband Charles), Christy Anderson (husband Bill); grandchildren, Emily Barnes (husband Joe), Bren Hall (wife Austin), Charley Cox (friend Daniel Wellons), Hinton Cox (friend Emilie Moss); step-grandson, Tate Anderson; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Bell, Walker Bell, Anders Barnes, Tatum Hall, Reese Hall, Luke Hall, and Gracie Hall; sister-in-law, Faye Jones and family; brother-in-law, Dr. Hal and Sarah Woodall and family; and adopted brother Donald Bailey. He had a very close relationship with his niece, Debbie Parrish (husband Gene) and her family and his nephew, Rick Hinton (wife Rose) and his family.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Princeton Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Pollock and Rev. Matthew Cornett officiating. The family will receive visitors at the home (1050 Old Hinton Road, Princeton, NC 27569) on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Hal Woodall and Kenly Medical Associates. Dr. Woodall has been a wonderful and caring doctor through the years, and a loving brother-in-law. A special thanks to Marti Jones and Valerie Richardson for the compassionate care provided to the family during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Princeton Church Pre-School – Barbara Hinton Honorary.
