Benson, NC: Mr. Jose “Joe” Martinez, age 66, of Byrdtown Road passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. Funeral Mass will be held-11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dunn. Father Joseph Mulroney will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.
Mr. Martinez was born on April 7, 1957 in San Felipe Guanajuato, Mexico to the late Juan Martinez and to Maria Martinez. He was preceded in death by his father. After coming to the United States, he started his own business, Martinez Painting and Decorating and continued to own and operate it until his passing. He was a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dunn and a member of The Knights of Columbus for over 30 years. In his downtime, he loved fishing at Surf City, camping and grilling out, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was truly the pillar of his family and was respected by all that knew him. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Surviving includes his wife of 35 years, Graciela Martinez; children, Yessica Ruiz, Priscilla Martinez, Bryan Martinez, Jaynie Martinez, Juan Martinez, Javier Martinez, and Mario Martinez; grandchildren, Vanessa Bailey, Asher Allen, Savannah Allen, Oliver Bonessi, Stormy Martinez, Jonathan Martinez, Joshua Martinez, Jacob Martinez, Tate Martinez, Riley Martinez, and Zander Martinez; siblings, Eloisa Martinez, Francisa Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Juan Martinez, Maria Juana Martinez, Francisco Martinez, and Karina Martinez; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
