    Joyce Ann Vojt Kemp, 86, passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center – Goldsboro on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Born in Linn County, Iowa on November 18, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Fred Vojt and Rose Mary Rizzio Vojt, Cedar Rapids, IA.

    Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Gail and husband Ron Eklind, Williamsburg, VA. She is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Cook and husband Vernon (deceased), Marion, IA; Rosemary Leesekamp and husband Raymond (deceased), Marion, IA; Joanne Vogel and husband Phil, Hiawatha, IA; Becky Guyer, Kansas City, MO; Tricia Monear and husband Kevin, Cedar Rapids, IA; and brother, Tim Vojt and wife Lorraine, Columbus, OH.

    Joyce is survived by four daughters, Kimberly Carlson, Lancaster, CA; Cami Jo Narron and husband Linwood (deceased), Kenly, NC; Kara Phillips and husband Billy (deceased), Smithfield, NC; Susan Phillips and husband Brian, Clayton, NC and two sons Craig Kemp and Mike Kemp of Selma, NC. Grandchildren Kristofer Carlson, Lancaster, CA; Kajsa Courtial and husband Michael, Lancaster, CA; Nikolaus Carlson and wife Karla, Omaha, NE; Jerry Narron and wife Cassi, Princeton, NC, Matthew Narron and wife Caroline, Athens, GA; Casey Narron and wife Mairin, New Bern, NC; Alison Strickland and husband, Jason, Chattanooga, TN; Stephanie Kemp and fiancé Jimmy Stanley, Wilmington, NC; Justin Kemp and wife Christina, Greensboro, NC; Shelby Everhart and husband Matthew, Raleigh, NC; Austin Phillips and fiancé, Rivers Stokes, Mobile, AL. Great-Grandchildren, Chase, Shane, Dallas and Hunter Courtial; Sebastian, Emilio and Adela Carlson; McKenna and Connor Narron, Lennox Narron; Dayson, Camden and Luca Kemp; Taylor, Marley and Bryanna Stanley, Desmond Everhart along with great-great grandchildren Estella Carlson and Jordan Stanley.

    Family and children were paramount to Joyce. Her caring love for family was shown in her cooking, vegetable gardening, hosting Bluebirds, Brownies, Girl Scout and Cub Scout groups. Holidays were always planned with fun times for crafts and baking cookies. She volunteered at many school events and taught pre-school children at Grace Baptist Church School. She loved lilacs, yellow roses and collecting fishing figurines. Her favorite pastime was taking photos and cake decorating. She earned a Graphic Design degree from Johnston Community College. Joyce retired from the NC Department of Revenue. She also enjoyed telling people about her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, praying and reading her Bible.

    Joyce will be buried in Selma Memorial Gardens, Selma, NC. The family will plan a later celebration of life service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro, NC.
