Benson, NC: Mrs. Julia Dixon Johnson, age 82, of Benson passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at her residence with her daughter by her side. Funeral Services will be held-2:00 PM Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Olsen. Burial will follow in Benson City Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born on July 24, 1941in Sampson County to the late Herman and Ione Stephenson Dixon. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.A. Johnson, Jr.; sister, Willa Dean Dixon House; brother, Charlie Dixon; nephew, James Robert House, II. Prior to retirement, she was most recently the bookkeeper for E.A. Johnson’s Jewelry Company and she was a member of Benson Global Methodist Church. She was a past member of Benson’s Civitan Club as well as the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed sports especially NASCAR, football, and the Carolina Hurricanes. Before Jeff Gordon retired, she pulled for Stock Car 24 but since became a fan of Joey Logano and Martin Truex, Jr. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her daughter. She will be remembered as a loving mother, aunt, and friend.
Surviving includes her daughter, Wendy Gayle Thornton of Raleigh; nieces, Beverly House Traywick of Southern Pines and Debra Lynn Dixon of Eustis, Florida; great nephews, Ed Butler of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and James Robert House, III of Clinton; and great niece, Rebekah House Gordon of Snead’s Ferry.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
