Kelvin Dwayne Hocutt, 53, of Selma, NC, passed away on April 17, 2025.

Kelvin was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend. Son of Billy Wayne Hocutt and Clara Whitley Hocutt, he was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Lynn Hocutt, his daughter, Katelyn Hocutt (fiancé Codie), and his son, Toby Hocutt. He was immensely proud of his family and the life they built together. His steady presence, servant’s heart, and deep love for those around him will be deeply missed.

Born in Smithfield, NC, Kelvin lived a life marked by service, hard work, and dedication to his community. He was a faithful member of his church, where he served as a deacon and took on many roles over the years, including serving on the building committee, cemetery committee, security team, and as head of the cooking committee. Whether lending a hand behind the scenes or preparing meals for church gatherings, Kelvin gave of himself with a humble heart and generous spirit. Kelvin gave back to his broader community through many years of volunteer service with the Thanksgiving Fire Department.

He worked with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Department as a dedicated detention officer. An avid outdoorsman, Kelvin found joy in hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for building and creating with his hands, running his own home repair business for many years.

Kelvin lived his life with integrity, compassion, and faith. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the community he served, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
