Lavere Howes Williamson

    Selma- Ophelia Lavere Howes Williamson, age 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 15, 2024, in Springbrook Nursing & Rehab Center in Clayton. Born, September 19, 1927, in Wilson County, she was a daughter of the late Barden and Ophelia Howes. She is preceded in death by her son, Mark Williamson, siblings; Alton Howes, Lebert Howes, B.J. Howes, Bobby House, Faith Wallace, Dorothy Holden, Adell Giles and Ruby Whitley. Lavere was a woman of strong faith, she loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of Rains Crossroads OFWB Church of Kenly for many years. She attended Atlantic Christian College and taught middle school until her retirement and then still tutored children during her retirement years. Lavere was gifted with the talents of playing the organ and piano at church as well as family gatherings and even attended classes at East Carolina University in music during her senior years. She appreciated God’s artistry and truly stopped to smell the roses. She had a joy for gardening and beatifying her surroundings. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed visiting with them. She radiated happiness and thankfulness when spending time with family and friends.

    A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.

    She is survived by her brother Frank Howes; son; Oliver Timothy Williamson (Gwendolyn) of Clayton, grandchildren; Sarah Baddorf (Brett), Miriam Paulson (Gordon), great-grandchildren, Henry Baddorf, Alice Baddorf, Olive Paulson, caregiving nieces, Dana Johnson and Gwendolen Ernesty as well as many other nieces and nephews. Her zeal for life, love and laughter will be greatly missed.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Autumn Home Care for the outdoor beautification fund at, 474 Jerry Road, Selma, NC 27576.
