Birth Date: 12/05/1938
Deceased Date: 07/02/2025
Lola Worley Hinson, age 86, died on July 2, 2025, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, with family by her side. She was born on December 5, 1938, in Johnston County, and despite living in other parts of the state for many years, always referred to Johnston County as home.
Lola was a strong woman who took pleasure in the simple things in life. Throughout her years, she enjoyed her summers spent at White Lake, visits with friends, Thanksgiving get-togethers at her sister Jean’s house, going overboard at Christmas, the companionship of her many dogs, a visit to Red Lobster, and a good glass of sweet tea. Lola worked throughout her life in various fields, but especially enjoyed her time working at WMPM radio.
Lola’s most treasured times centered on her family, particularly time with her sons and granddaughters. She was a loving mother and found special happiness as a grandmother. She loved watching her granddaughters grow up and spoiled them anytime she could.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Jean Worley Crocker and Joann Worley Parrish. She is survived by her sons, Charles Michael “Mike” Lancaster and Grady Neal “Neal” Lancaster and wife, Ashley, and her granddaughters, Caroline Lancaster, Gabrielle Lancaster, and Elizabeth Lancaster. She is also survived by nieces and other family, including her niece Mechelle Kelly, and her husband Ronnie, who made special efforts to help Lola in her last years.
Lola was loved and will be missed.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens.
