Melba Jean Strickland Carroll, 82, of Kenly, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 14, 2022. She entered her eternal home with her loving daughter by her side.Born September 30, 1939, in Johnston County, Melba is the daughter of the late Beulah Mae Strickland.
She is a long-time member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Kenly, NC. Melba retired from Eaton, Inc. after spending more than 39 years of loyal service.
She is survived by her husband James Carroll; daughter, Gayle Evans and husband Glenn of Princeton; her grandchildren, Zachary Evans of Concord, Amanda Biedekapp (Scottie) of Princeton, Heather Chappell of Washington, D.C., Mackenzie “Kizzie” Evans of Princeton; and great-grandchildren, Miranda Hardison, Matthew Biedekapp, Madison Biedekapp, Cameron Johnson and Samantha Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022, at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, 8980 Old Beulah Rd, Kenly, NC 27542. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Flowers are welcome. Melba always went out of her way to do for others — especially children. The family encourages you to purchase a pair of shoes for a child in need in remembrance of her.
