Coats, NC: Mr. Gary Wayne Tew, age 64, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM, Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Red Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, located at 5355 Red Hill Church Road, Coats, NC 27521. Revs. Donnie Barbour, Kim Strickland and Rhonda Hamilton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Tew was born on July 2, 1957 in Harnett County, NC to the late Joel S. and Sarah Avis Hudson Tew, and grew up in Sampson County, NC. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Joel S. Tew, Jr., and Glenn Tew, and his father-in-law, Rev. Pete Daniel. Mr. Tew was a retired Regional Facilities Manager with North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. He was a member of Red Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as Vice Chairman of the Deacon Board and was also a trustee. One of his greatest loves was serving as a Soldier in the Army of the Lord.
Surviving include his wife of 44 years, Judy Daniel Tew; children, Jennifer Tew-Sills and fiancé, Michael Capps, and Brian Tew and wife, Heather Manhart; grandchildren, Nolan Sills and Karli Sills; sisters, Lois Lee (James), Ernestine Tart (Dwight) and Kathy Woodlief (Alan); brothers, Jimmy Tew (Bonnie) and Ricky Tew (Carolyn); mother-in-law, Margie Daniel; special parents, Gary and Jackie McLeod; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service at Red Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church on Thursday and other times at the home.
