Mina Grey Crumpler

    On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, Mina Grey Glover, Crumpler, 86, of Pine Level, peacefully went to her Heavenly home while surrounded by her loving family.

    Born on May 29, 1937 in Johnston County, Mina Grey was the daughter of the late Carl Governor and Mittie Jane Davis Glover. She was preceded in death by her sisters Lucille Godwin, Irene Hinton, and Virgie Barefoot, and brothers Carlyle, Billy Ray, Pete, Jimmy, and Kenneth Glover.

    God blessed Mina Grey with a wonderful musical talent. As a teenager, she played the piano for many school and community events, as well as, radio programs. Following graduation from Micro High School in 1956, Mina Grey worked with Shallcross/Eaton Corporation, where she retired after 57 years of employment.

    She was a longtime member of Carter’s Chapel Baptist Church. Her church and church family were very special to her. She served her Lord in many positions: Sunday School Teacher, member of the WMU, choir director, and pianist until her health declined.

    Mina Grey’s passion for gospel music led her to join the New Jerusalem Way Singers as pianist. Some of her most memorable years were traveling with her band family.

    During her beloved husband’s tenure with the Pine Level Volunteer Fire Department, Mina Grey was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed serving her small town with this organization.

    Mina Grey was very family-oriented and loved taking family trips to the mountains and attending events in which her children and grandchildren were involved.

    The family will receive visitors in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home, Selma on Friday, February 9th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Selma Memorial Gardens.

    Mina Grey is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Edward Lee Crumpler; daughters Teresa C. Whitley (Doug), June C. Edwards (Eddie Davis); son Edward Lee Crumpler, Jr.; grandchildren Kristin Whittington (Chris), Kyle Whitley (Erika), Amber Narron, Louis Edwards (Kinga), Jason and Ashley Crumpler, and Alexis Glover; great grandchildren Maxton and Porter Narron, Camden and Kaylin Whittington, and Skye Whitley. Also, she is survived by many special nieces and nephews.
